Dissertation Project
His dissertation project, titled "America's Roman Holidays: American Emigrants in Italy, 1940-1960," investigates the mobility and prominence of American emigrants—GIs, diplomats, expatriates, and tourists—in Italy to understand how American militarism and tourism shaped U.S.-Italian relations and globalization during and after World War II.
MA Thesis
His M.A. thesis, "Migrations of Love and Circumstance," explored the experience of Italian war brides under Allied occupation through the cultural and political collision between Italian women and the U.S. military, government, and immigration system during and after World War II. Using oral histories, memoirs, film and fiction, in conjunction with state produced materials and sources, he studied war brides under Allied occupation, their migration experience, and residence in the United States.
